Instagram is testing one of its most requested creator features: clickable links directly inside post captions.
The feature, confirmed in March 2026, is currently available only to a limited group of creators subscribed to Meta Verified. Under the test, eligible creators can add links to up to 10 feed posts per month, giving them a new way to send followers directly from a specific post to an outside page.
The test was first noticed after screenshots showed a clickable link inside an Instagram caption, along with an in-app message explaining the monthly limit. Instagram has said caption links are among the most requested features from its subscriber community, but the company has not announced a full rollout date.
If expanded, the feature would mark one of the biggest changes to Instagram’s traffic system in years.
A Major Shift for Instagram
Instagram has resisted clickable links in regular feed captions for most of its history. The platform has traditionally allowed links in profiles, Stories, Reels and ads, but not in ordinary post captions.
That restriction shaped creator behavior for more than a decade. It forced users to direct followers to a profile link, which helped create the entire “link in bio” ecosystem. Creators, publishers, influencers and brands built workflows around bio-link tools because Instagram did not let them attach a different clickable link to each feed post.
The new test changes that logic. A caption link would let a creator connect one post to one destination. A recipe post could link to the full recipe, a newsletter teaser could link to a subscription page, a product post could link to a storefront, and a campaign post could link to a landing page.
That kind of contextual linking is much more precise than a general bio link.
Limited to Meta Verified
The feature is not being offered broadly. It appears to be tied to Meta Verified, the company’s paid subscription program for creators. Meta Verified requires identity verification and gives subscribers access to selected account benefits.
The caption-link test is also capped at 10 linked posts per month. That limit suggests Instagram is testing the feature carefully rather than opening the feed to unrestricted outbound traffic.
The cap also helps Instagram avoid turning captions into link-heavy promotional spaces. The platform still wants to protect its visual-first identity, even while giving paid creators more tools to drive traffic.
Another important detail is account eligibility. The test appears aimed at individual creator accounts rather than standard business profiles. That could make the feature especially valuable for influencers, educators, artists, newsletter writers, podcasters, coaches and creator-led businesses.
For traditional brands, the restriction could create a different dynamic. If business accounts cannot use the feature directly, brands may have more reason to partner with creators who can place clickable links in sponsored posts.

Why Instagram Is Testing It Now
The timing fits Meta’s broader subscription strategy. Meta Verified has become an important way for the company to sell premium features to creators and professionals.
Clickable caption links give Meta a strong reason for creators to pay. Unlike badge visibility or account support, links have a direct business value. They can drive newsletter signups, product sales, affiliate traffic, bookings, downloads and campaign visits.
The feature also gives Instagram a way to monetize outbound traffic without giving it away to everyone. By placing caption links behind a subscription and limiting them to 10 posts per month, Meta can offer a valuable benefit while controlling how much link traffic appears in the feed.
There is also a competitive reason. Creators increasingly want platforms that help them convert attention into owned audiences, sales or community growth. TikTok, YouTube, newsletters and creator stores have all pushed creators to think beyond views. Instagram needs stronger traffic tools if it wants creators to keep treating the app as a serious business platform.
Rollout Is Still Limited
The test does not appear to be universally available. Some users who have seen linked caption posts reported that the links work inside the Instagram mobile app but not on the web version. Others in different regions have not seen the option at all.
That suggests the feature is still in controlled testing, with possible geographic and account-level limits. Instagram has not confirmed whether clickable caption links will become permanent, expand to more creators, or remain a Meta Verified-only benefit.
What It Means for Creators
For creators, clickable caption links could make Instagram much more useful as a traffic driver. Instead of asking followers to “check the link in bio,” creators could send people directly from a post to the exact page connected to that content.
That could improve attribution, campaign tracking and conversion measurement. It would also reduce friction for users, who would no longer need to leave the post, open the profile, find the right link and choose the correct destination.
Still, the 10-link cap means link-in-bio tools are unlikely to disappear. Creators who post frequently, manage multiple offers or need a central landing page will still need those tools.
The bigger message is that Instagram is slowly changing its position on outbound links. The platform is not opening the gates completely, but it is testing a paid, controlled version of a feature creators have wanted for years.
